Preschool Screening
The Dekalb Community Unit School District 428 along with 4-C: Community Coordinated Child Care offers birth to Preschool screenings. This is a free service offered to all children birth to 3 years of age and preschoolers, ages 3-5 in the DeKalb, Cortland and Malta communities. Parents are encouraged to take part in this service.
Your child changes rapidly during the preschool years and an annual check up of their educational progress is strongly recommended. This service is just one way of finding preschoolers who may need extra help before the start of kindergarten

Screening Features
Play-based screening model features:

Format: Small groups 5-7 preschool children engaging in developmentally appropriate play.

Target Areas: Social-emotional development, fine/gross motor skills, and speech/language acquisition.

Multidisciplinary Team: Early childhood educators, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists.
